Initially, I didn't give this video much of a chance.
For one, I'm not the biggest "Total Eclipse of the Heart" fan.
For another, I'm not a Bonnie Tyler fan by any stretch of the imagination.
Bonnie Tyler is the Annie Lennox of Roxettes.
Just had to get that off of my head.
However, this clip takes her video for the song and details exactly what's happening as it progresses. Come to think of it, I've never given much thought to music videos like this, for good reason, as there's not much substance to them. However, there's a shitload of humor in those quick scenes we normally let pass freely from our short term memory to oblivion.
Have a look.
I hope that was as enlightening an experience for you as it was for me.
There are many ways to tell a fairy tale, either through reading or audio/visual media. In fact, public domain fairy tales can be adapted for pretty much any audience your heart desires. There's the classic Little Red Riding Hood, all storybook with or without the happy ending. There exists any number of comical adaptations for your viewing pleasure, from Looney Tunes to Shrek. And then there's this little number, a bedtime story clearly aimed for the spawn of Nobel Prize winners in the field of science.
Let me know if you have any problems with the video. Worse comes to worse just click on the link under the video, it's a larger size anyway so you can see the detail. Enjoy!
No fluff today, just a good video. Grapevine Fires from Death Cab for Cutie. I've grown continuously more and more fond of this group. I keep finding some really great songs as I peruse their discography. I highly suggest a good listen, as grapevine fires exemplifies the group's ability to treat the subject of death with a positive spin. In a sort of "tis better to have loved and lost" kinda way.
My personal favorite at the moment is I'll Follow You Into the Dark, from Plans. Download that one for sure. For more DCFC goodness, no better place than their site.
A friend of mine from work pointed this little number out to me yesterday. It's a bit cute, and with a few laughs. And who doesn't like a kitten now and then?
I prefer mine with a bit of Gulden's Spicy Brown Mustard, adds just the right flavor, but with a kick.
Here's a nice one. Now, I'm not sure which school of thought you'll come from. Either you'll think this kid is a super-awesome gaming prodigy. Or you'll think her father's only form of entertainment is to sit her next to him while he plays video games all day. Either way, her comprehension is impressive. Enjoy for now, and have a good weekend if I don't talk to you before long.
Yeah, I'm not really sure how to preface this. It's Sarah Palin, this much I know. She's pretty much looping her dialogue as usual... like so.
"Well, now that I'm back to Alaska, I'm ready to continue servin' the people and running the government. So I'm just going run it as best I can, and serve to the best of my ability. Basically, I'm back in Alaska."
*wink ad nauseum*
Now that's not verbatim or anything, but it's basically the pattern she follows. That being said it's not what she says it's how, where, and JESUS CHRIST WHY she says it.
Keep in mind this is after she pardoned the eligible turkeys this year.
You really just have to love to hate to love to hate her.
And the "Are you fucking serious? Doing an interview in front of a live turkey slaughter 'for fun'" look on the guy behind her isn't too shabby either.
More to come, I promise Jimmy

Happened across this earlier this evening. From TED.com, a small talk and presentation on some nice underwater life. Spend five minutes of your day seeing some things you might not have previously seen. I find myself longing for a view of the Planet Earth series of HD programming, which I also highly recommend if you haven't seen it (make sure you see it in HD of course).
What can I say, if you're not watching It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, you're missing arguably one of the best comedies on TV. And with the evolution of cable TV, you get the added bonus of "M" rating language. Nothing spices up a joke like a well timed "Shit!" or "Goddamn!".
History tells us that the pilot for the show was shot by the three male leads with a camcorder for a total cost of about $85 dollars. As FX has currently ordered enough episodes for a sixth season, this represents a pretty good return-on-investment.
The simple premise is this: Dennis, Mac, and Charlie are all co-owners of Paddy's Bar, an ill-fated establishment in Philadelphia. Dennis' twin sister Dee works as a bartender, while their father Frank weasels his way into all their schemes (Frank debuted in Season Two, working his way into the ownership of the bar by buying the land underneath it). It's simple but it works, and with hilarious results always. More on the series if you need it here.
I've embedded Episode 1 from the current season (4) for your viewing pleasure. I know you probably don't have the full twenty two or so minutes at your disposal, but if you don't now, find time later.
FYI, the entire episode comes courtesy of Hulu. The brainchild of Fox parent News Corp. and NBC (who was looking for a proper outlet for their content after ending their Itunes relationship), Hulu has now become one of the top online distributors of streaming content, effectively silencing its doubters. Call me convinced, the website provides a fast and efficient way to enjoy a vast library of some great shows with limited commercial interruption. Now go watch!
That being said I fucking hate Fox News, may it burn in hell alongside it's pundits whom have all sold their souls to the devil that is Rupert Murdoch. But sweet Jesus I love The Simpsons ... what can you do?
Today's video is a classic. And by classic I mean it was released in 2000, which is about the time I saw the commercial online. I remember laughing my ass off then and it still holds a funny little spot in my heart (unless that's just a fat deposit). In honor of Lehman Brothers filing for bankruptcy, we give a minute to John West Salmon, which is owned Lehman Bros. I hear that in the past John West has used pretty rotten fishing techniques and are responsible for decimating the turtle and shark populations in their fishing grounds. And on that happy note, ENJOY!
There must really be few pleasures in life as good as being prepared to talk to a telemarketer. It's their ability to catch us off guard that makes us stutter and politely decline their offers as they plow through their scripts. I've grown to the point of just gently hanging up the phone, because I know somebody on the other side has no choice but to earn a living knowing people hate them. I see them much like I see the NMSU parking department, however underneath my gentle facade I want to rip out their still beating hearts and punch them in the face with it for the few seconds they have before slipping into death. Since that would effectively end this blog's short run, I remain calm. Enjoy this excellent clip showcasing this man's unique response to one unsuspecting telemarketer.
Man, I had almost forgotten about this one. If you're a fan of Robot Chicken, and I know you are (or should be), than you are most familiar with this clip. By far one of their greatest, we find an everyday giraffe who happens to discover his fate in the strangest of ways. All of us face our deaths eventually, but a small percentage of us have the opportunity to come to terms with it before we shuffle off this mortal coil. In a little over a minute and a half, this poor bastard manages to do both. Enjoy!
I totally enjoyed watching Michael Phelps junk punch the competition at the Olympics this year. In particular his one one-hundredth of a second victory over Milorad Cavic in the 100m Butterfly. Here in a video I can't seem to get enough of, we see some behind the scenes exchanges which somewhat tarnish Phelps wholesome image. That'll teach you to possess dual U.S./Serbian citizenship!
Here we have a small sample from Igudesman and Joo. Its members are violinist Aleksey Igudesman and pianist Richard Hyung-ki Joo. They put on quite a funny show but are still pretty isolated to Europe. Hopefully they'll hit the US someday. "Rachmaninoff Had Big Hands" is probably my favorite sketch of theirs, so enjoy.
